Restaurant Week 2023

Visit Harrogate Restaurant Week provided a new opportunity for restaurants, cafes and bars across the district to attract local residents and visitors to try out somewhere new at an affordable price.

Our first restaurant week took place in February 2023 with over 25 eateries creating over 40 offers for diners to enjoy.

Another event took place in October with our main restaurant week page on visitharrogate.co.uk receiving more than 19,000 page views, up from just over 7,000 in February

This second Restaurant Week took place over seven days from 9 – 15 October.

The Restaurant Week format is popular in driving business in many towns and cities across the UK, including Leeds and York where restaurant weeks have increased participation year-on-year.

The objectives of Restaurant Week are:

  • Attract new customers to your business
  • Boost awareness of your food and drink offer
  • Create regular repeat customers for your business

We want to thank everyone who took part in these two Restaurant Week events and we will be looking at how this event might continue in 2024 and beyond.  For more information on how Restaurant Week works, please read on below.

How It Works

Set Price Points

Participating businesses commit to provide set price menus throughout the week at one of four fixed price points – £10, £15, £20 or £30.  The set menu format is the most effective way of presenting your offer e.g. two courses for £15; two mains and two drinks for £20 – however that works for your business.

Landing page on established website

Each offer will be featured on the Visit Harrogate Restaurant Week page of visitharrogate.co.uk with details of the offer and links to the participating business’s visitharrogate.co.uk entry.  The event will be widely promoted via our social media channels, our consumer newsletter and in the local press.

Simple mechanism for redemption

In order to redeem the offer, customers book direct with you and order from the Restaurant Week menu.  If possible please display Restaurant Week offers clearly to customers.  If you use an online booking system such as OpenTable it would be useful to provide somewhere for people to indicate Restaurant Week, but not essential.

Learning from successful Restaurant Weeks

Customer feedback from other destinations with a restaurant week shows that the best performing offers are:

  • Clear and easy to understand
  • Perceived to be good value/high quality
  • Experience at the venue matches their expectations
  • Do not have too many restrictive terms and conditions
  • Are unique to Restaurant Week

Eligibility Criteria

  • First-time participants can join Restaurant Week with a non-chargeable Directory listing or as a partnership benefit of their subscription.
  • If you have already taken part in the Visit Harrogate Restuarant Week you will need to be a Destination Harrogate partner with a paid Marketing listing to do so again – get in touch to find out how.
